Improving stroke care through partnership working across CCG boundaries

The Stroke Team at Lister Hospital, Stevenage

Case study: In early 2016, Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow was unable to recruit consultants for its stroke unit and not enough patients with strokes were being treated at the hospital to sustain a specialist stroke centre.

To improve stroke care, a specialist stroke centre has been developed at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage, staffed by a stable, expert workforce, operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Blooming Beauties - Care homes get help from their communities to improve gardens and health

Case study: Flowers, vegetable patches and homes for hedgehogs are helping to forge links between care home residents and local communities across north and east Hertfordshire in a joint project between East and North Hertfordshire CCG and Herts Care Providers Association (HCPA) and funded by Tesco.

Nicotine is not the enemy!

Hertfordshire resident Ruth Harrington has seen first-hand how e-cigarettes have transformed the lives of three members of her family, who have all quit smoking using them

Case study: The number of people in England using e-cigarettes has risen rapidly over the last four years, quadrupling to 2.8 million adult vapers.  However as their popularity grows, so too does confusion about their safety and a fifth of us still think e-cigarettes are at least as harmful as smoking.
