National consultation on items of low priority currently prescribed in primary care

In July this year, NHS Clinical Commissioners (NHSCC) and NHS England launched a national consultation on items which should not be routinely prescribed in primary care.

The aim of the consultation is to support Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) in ensuring that they can use their prescribing resources effectively and deliver best patient outcomes from the medicines that their local population uses.

The consultation will close on Saturday 21 October.

Making our vision a reality

The growing health and social care needs of our population can only be met using the funding available if the NHS and social care services work together with you to achieve this.

We have identified four key challenges:

1. Living well and preventing ill-health

2. Transforming primary and community services

3. Improving urgent and hospital services

4. Providing health and care more efficiently and effectively
