West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust provides acute healthcare services to a core catchment population of approximately half a million people living in west Hertfordshire and the surrounding area. The Trust also provides a range of more specialist services to a wider population, serving residents of North London, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and East Hertfordshire.  As an employer of over 4,000 people the Trust is one of the biggest employers in the area and sees nearly a million patients each year.

Patient safety must always be the priority

Health and Social Care Secretary Jeremy Hunt inspired staff to prize patient safety above all else and to speak up if they have concerns and to admit to errors.

"There is a world of difference between gross negligence and human error," he said, to a packed-out room at Watford General Hospital during his visit on Friday 15 June.

"We have to be brutally brave when it comes to safety."

West Herts NHS Trust Annual General Meeting

Thursday, 5 July, 2018 - 15:00 to 18:30

This year, as part of our celebrations to mark the 70th birthday of the NHS, our AGM will begin with a staff awards ceremony.

We are holding the event at Watford Football Club as they have kindly gifted us use of their media suite in honour of NHS70.

Join us to hear about our exit from special measures; the many awards we’ve won; and plans for our buildings – which are ageing badly across all of our sites. We will be speaking about past, current and future challenges as well as answering your questions.

The diabetes team from West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust and the mental health team from Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust

A local diabetes and mental health team has been chosen from hundreds of applicants to represent the central midlands region in a prestigious competition to mark the NHS's 70th birthday.

As regional champion in the ‘Excellence in Mental Health Care’ award category, they will now vie with other regional winners from across England for a national award to be presented at a special ceremony in the Palace of Westminster in July.
